To ask the Secretary of State for Education (1) what percentage and numbers of students in United Kingdom universities are women; [19102]

(2) what percentage of postgraduate students in United Kingdom universities are women. [19100]

The numbers of home-domiciled women students in former UFC-funded universities and former PCFO-polytechnics in England in academic year 1993–94 was 386,600, 47 per cent. of all home-domiciled students. The numbers of home-domiciled women postgraduate students was 63,100, 46 per cent. of home-domiciled postgraduate students.
