§ Ms HarmanTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many people he expects to employ in (i) his Department and (ii) all executive agencies for which he is responsible on temporary contracts of(a) 51 weeks or (b) less than 51 weeks duration in the next three years, in each case specifying the number of employees who had previously been employed in a similar position on the same contract.
§ Mr. Lang[holding answer 15 March 1995]: During the next three years, I intend to continue our normal policy of employing some staff on a casual basis to fill temporary vacancies which arise seasonally, or to meet a temporary increase in demand. It is not possible to predict how many will be employed on this basis, although we would not expect it to differ signifcantly from previous years.
