To ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) how many dental practices taking new NHS patients there were in 1992 in Gwynedd; and if he will make a statement; [18225]

(2) how many dental practices there are in Dyfed taking new NHS patients; and if he will make a statement; [18223]

(3) how many dental practices taking new NHS patients there were in 1992 in Clwyd; and if he will make a statement; [18226]

(4) how many dental practices there were taking new NHS patients in Powys in 1993; and if he will make a statement; [18230]

(5) how many dental practices there are in the county of West Glamorgan currently taking new NHS patients; and if he will make a statement. [18224]

Family health services authorities are best placed to provide information on local availability of NHS general dental services, and to provide advice and assistance to any unregistered patient who experiences difficulty in finding a dentist willing to accept them under NHS arrangements.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many dental practitioners with fewer than two years' post-qualification experience there are in the county of Clwyd; and if he will make a statement [18229]

According to information supplied by the family health services authority, there are six de.tists in Clwyd who have less than two years' post-qualification experience.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many dental practices there are in(a) the county of Dyfed and (b) Clwyd. [18228]

Mr. Richards

Information on the number of dental practices is not available centrally. However, at 31 December 1994, there were 104 and 119 general dental practitioners practising in Dyfed FHSA and Clwyd FHSA respectively. Dentists who work in more than one FHSA have been counted in the FHSA where they perform most work.
