To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to allow the shadow unitary authorities in Strathclyde a say in the duration and value of any contracts awarded after 6 April by Strathclyde passenger transport executive. [15858]

Strathclyde passenger transport executive contracts of £75,000 or more are referred automatically to Strathclyde regional council. Any such contracts falling within the conditions laid down by section 55 of the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994 will be subject to the consent procedures involving successor authorities set out there.
