§ Mr. PurchaseTo ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) when she or any of her predecessors were informed of the case of Richard Miles and New Cross hospital, Wolverhampton; and what advice was offered by her Department to the local health authority;
(2) what costs have been incurred by the Wolverhampton health authority since 1980 in the case of Richard Miles, excluding the value of the compensation awarded to him.
§ Mr. MaloneA local health authority would not be expected to contact the Department of Health in respect of a medical negligence claim of this type until after the claim had been settled. The hon.
