§ Mr. MaloneLong-standing guidance advises national health service bodies to deal helpfully with requests for access to health records by patients engaged in legal836W proceedings. In addition, patients, or their representatives, have a legal right of access to their records under the Access to Health Records Act 1990. Discussions are currently taking place with the Law Society to see whether the arrangements for handling medico-legal claims in the national health service can be improved.
