§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonSubstantial resources of nearly three quarter of a billion pounds have been made available to local authorities, new town development corporations and Scottish Homes in 1994–95 for investment in housing. These allocations are generally not earmarked for specific purposes and it is for local authorities, new town development corporations and Scottish Homes to obtain value for money from targeting these resources on the provision of social rented housing in accordance with their assessment of local housing needs and priorities.
