§ Mr. BaldryWe have committed a total of £1.2 billion in assistance to Russia bilaterally and through the European Union. We also contribute through international financial institutions. There are no current plans to increase this sum to improve safety in the Russian nuclear industry. Though the fundamental responsibility for nuclear safety lies with the Russian Government, we have to date contributed £24.5 million through the nuclear safety account and through EU nuclear safety programmes.
