§ Mr. MacleanThe operation of good practice throughout the police service is encouraged by a variety of mechanisms which include regular publications, helpdesks and conferences. Other organisations, such as Her Majesty's inspectorate of constabulary, the Audit Commission and the Association of Chief Police Officers have a valuable role to play in this process.
The process itself is both continuous and varied. It is, therefore, not possible to identify what efficiency savings might result in the next five years.
