To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how the United Kingdom voted at the United Nations on resolution A/C.1/49/L22 of 1 November calling for a comprehensive nuclear test ban treaty; and what discussions the British ambassador had with his counterparts from the signatory nations.

The United Kingdom co-sponsored the resolution, which was passed by consensus. 'The British ambassador was in close contact throughout with his counterparts, including the sponsors of the resolution.
