HC Deb 03 November 1994 vol 248 c1319W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what consultation he has had with the British Geological Survey over proposed super-quarries in Harris.

Mr. Stewart

On 28 February 1994 my right hon. Friend directed that Redland Aggregates Ltd, should provide a written statement further to illustrate the visual impact of working the proposed Lingarabay quarry in South Harris to different contour levels. In an official letter dated 21 July 1994, the British Geological Survey was invited to comment on the written statement produced. This letter and the associated replies were subsequently circulated to the parties to the current public local inquiry. My right hon. Friend has not otherwise consulted the British Geological Survey about proposed super-quarries in Harris.
