HL Deb 02 November 1994 vol 558 c69WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have received, or are prepared to receive, representations on behalf of Miss Emma Humphreys, who has served 10 years of an indeterminate sentence.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Baroness Blatch)

From time to time my right honourable friend has received representations about the safety of Miss Humphreys' conviction for murder, but he has not found any grounds for referring her case to the Court of Appeal or taking any other action in respect of the conviction. My right honourable friend is always prepared to consider fresh representations in such cases.

Representations made by Miss Humphreys about her release on life licence were considered by the Parole Board when it last reviewed her case in May 1994. I understand that a further Parole Board review of Miss Humphreys' suitability for release will begin in May 1995.
