To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what are the most recent annual figures available for net(a) value added tax receipts and (b) excise receipts from beer.

In the calendar year 1993(a) net VAT receipts from beer were around £1,600 million and (b) net excise receipts from beer were £2,230 million.
