HL Deb 19 May 1994 vol 555 c17WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is the case, as reported that they are proposing to buy cruise missiles from the United States, and whether such sales by the United States would be incompatible with US anti- and counter-proliferation policies, which cover the sale of missiles and the transfer of missile technology, and therefore at risk of later cancellation.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (Viscount Cranborne)

We are examining the potential of a number of long-range stand-off missile options, but have not yet reached the point where procurement decisions on specific systems might be required. Questions relating to US policy are therefore hypothetical.
