§ Mr. Llew SmithTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is Her Majesty's Government's policy in regard to the decision of the European Parliament on 26 April in respect of the release by the Council of Ministers of documents discussed at meetings of the Council.
§ Mr. Heathcoat-AmoryWe have noted the recommendation by the Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament that the Parliament should support the Dutch Government's legal challenge of the treaty base under which the code of conduct on access to information was adopted. We consider that the code was adopted under the correct treaty base, and fully support its objective of greater openness and transparency.
