§ Mr. Alex CarlileTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) if he will make a statement regarding the internal reorganisation of his Department with regard to the sponsorship of the Development Board for Rural Wales;
(2) if he will make a statement setting out the responsibilities of the regional development division of his Department; and which division of his Department is responsible for rural, tourism and countryside matters.
§ Mr. RedwoodFollowing the internal reorganisation of Welsh Office, the regional development division is responsible for sponsorship of the Development Board for Rural Wales, the Wales tourist board and the Welsh Development Agency; and co-ordination of the application of the strategic development scheme within rural areas. RDD has responsibility for general tourism and rural policy matters. The environment division is responsible for sponsorship of the Countryside Council for Wales.
