To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement about the level of total demand in the economy.

For domestic demand, the most recent figures available are for the fourth quarter of 1993. By then it had risen for seven successive quarters, to a level over 4½ per cent. above its trough in the first quarter of 1992.
