HL Deb 10 May 1994 vol 554 cc83-4WA
Lord Tebbit

asked Her Majesty's Government:

"Whether they now expect the European Draft Directive A3/246/94, setting a 74 kilowatts limit on motor cycles, to be implemented.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (Lord Mackay of Ardbrecknish)

On 4 May the European Parliament voted 10 amendments to the common position, which, among other things, delete the 74 kW power limit. It is now for the Council of Ministers to decide whether to accept all the amendments. If they do not, the next step will be the convening of the Conciliation Committee.
