HC Deb 03 May 1994 vol 242 cc456-7W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Education what assessment he has made of the effect of local government reform on the work of local education authorities in relation to the provision of teaching in specialist subjects.

Mr. Robin Squire

Any changes resulting from the review of local government will not affect schools' responsibilities for delivering the national curriculum. The Local Government Commission is required to consider the implications of reorganisation for all local authority services including education.
