HL Deb 03 May 1994 vol 554 cc62-3WA
Lord Coleraine

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are satisfied with the working of the Prescription Act 1832; and whether they will introduce legislation to repeal the Act and to abolish, in respect of both easements and profits à prendre, prescription at common law and under the doctrine of lost modern grant, as recommended in 1966 by the Law Reform Committee.

The Lord Chancellor (Lord Mackay of Clashfern)

There are no plans to abolish the right to acquire easements or profits by prescription.
