Mr. Maxton

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the total number of people in receipt of occupational pensions and the average value of these pensions by decile group together with the average value of tax liability of each decile.

Latest available estimates using the 1991–92 survey of personal incomes are given in the table. The information is based on administrative records and excludes some individuals whose income is below the tax threshold.
