§ Mr. Lennox-BoydMy right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary last met Chief Buthelezi on 6 September 1993. My right hon. Friend made it clear that we attach the utmost importance to the constructive participation of all major political figures in the peaceful transition to democracy in South Africa. My noble Friend Baroness Chalker of Wallasey spoke with Chief Buthelezi again in similar terms on 9 December 1993. Through our embassy in Pretoria we continue to keep in close touch with all South Africa's major leaders.
