Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what proposals he has to withdraw recognition of defence contractors claiming quality management assurance systems certification, which has been certified by institutions or companies which are not qualified to offer such certification by the National Association of Certification Control Bodies.

Mr. Aitken

The MOD recognises only contractors quality management system certifications which have either been:

  1. (a) granted by certification bodies who hold appropriate accreditation through the National Accreditation Council for Certification Bodies (NACCB), or
