HL Deb 27 June 1994 vol 556 cc34-6WA
Earl Russell

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the discussions mentioned by the Earl of Arran (Official Report, 12 April, col. 1529) between the Department of the Environment and the domestic violence section of the Home Office on the effect of the Government's homelessness review on women's refuges, have taken place, and if so, what has been their conclusion.

The Earl of Arran

The Home Office and the Department of the Environment are represented on the ministerial group on domestic violence, which recently considered aspects of Her Majesty's Government's proposals for reform of the homelessness legislation. My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for the Environment hopes to announce before the Summer Recess the Government's conclusions following consideration of the responses to the consultation paper Access to Local Authority and Housing Association Tenancies. Further discussion by the ministerial group will follow that announcement.
