How many Home Office prisoners were held in police cells on 1 June 1994; and how many of that total were held by each police force.

Lord Ferrers has asked me to reply to your recent Question about the population and accommodation of local prisons.

The attached table shows the certified normal accommodation (CNA), population as a percentage of CNA, that is overcrowding, of each of the local prisons on 1 June 1994.
