HL Deb 06 June 1994 vol 555 c70WA
The Earl of Selkirk

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they intend to preserve the aircraft in the Royal Air Force Museum at Hendon.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (Viscount Cranborne)

The Royal Air Force Museum is a non-departmental public body, partly funded by grant-in-aid from the Ministry of Defence. Part of the museum's purpose is to preserve historic aircraft. Responsibility for aircraft preservation rests with the Royal Air Force Museum, however, its current aircraft maintenance policy has been developed jointly with the Royal Air Force. In the case of aircraft on loan to the museum from the Ministry of Defence the maintenance standard is set by the Royal Air Force.
