§ The Earl of Ilchesterasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether, following the departure from Hendon Aerodrome in the 1980s, they still intend to dispose of what remains of the Ministry of Defence site; and whether their plans for the site took into consideration the view of the 3rd Report to the House of Commons Select Committee on National Heritage and of the Royal Air Force Museum that the Grahame White factory should not be demolished.
§ Lord HenleyWe intend to dispose of the remaining 24 acres of the former East Camp at Hendon. A marketing campaign has identified a potential purchaser and discussions are under way. We understand that the potential purchaser intends to apply to the local planning authority for approval to remove the Grahame White Hangar, or as much of it as can be preserved, to the RAF Museum site. This proposal has been discussed in outline and found acceptable by the RAF Museum; on completion of the contract of sale, detailed discussion will be undertaken by the purchaser with the planning authority and the RAF Museum.
