To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what consultations he has had with the chairman of the Wales region of the National Rivers Authority concerning research programmes into the efficiency of fish passes on south Wales rivers, barrages and weirs with respect to the passage of the (i) salmon, (ii) sea-trout or sewin, (iii) river lampey, (iv) sea lampey, (v) allis shad, (vi) twaite shad and (vii) eel and into the impact of barrages on the long term management strategies needed to maintain appropriate water quality standards.
