§ Mr. Gareth WardellTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will consider including training of teachers in road safety education as a national priority area in grants for education support and training.
§ Sir Wyn RobertsDetails of the Welsh Office's 1995–96 grants for education support and training—GEST —programme were sent to local education authorities in June this year. Training in road safety education is not included in the programme which has been the subject of extensive consultations with LEAs. The Department will, in due course, consult LEAs on the priorities to be supported in the 1996–97 GEST programme and will consider any proposals for funding, including any relating to road safety education, as part of that exercise.
