To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department what proposals he has to amend the current law relating to privity of contract in commercial leases; and if he will make a statement.

The Government will implement the recommendations in the Law Commission's report "Landlord and Tenant Law: Privity of Contract and Estate"—Law Com. No. 174—for all future leases including commercial leases, as soon as there is a suitable legislative opportunity.
