To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage if he will publish a table showing the grant in aid for the last 10 financial years, this year and projections for the next two years, for each of the regional sports councils.

Mr. Brooke

The Sports Council's regional offices provide the secretariat for the regional councils for sport and recreation, but neither the Department nor the Sports Council makes grants to these bodies.

The Sports Council's support for regional sporting activity and development is delivered directly through its own regional offices.
