Mr. Pickthall

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the average cost of a valuation investigation for an appeal against council tax banding.

Mr. Nelson

The estimated average cost of processing a council tax appeal in the current financial year in England is £115. This estimate includes Valuation Office agency and valuation tribunal costs.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list the number of outstanding appeals against council tax bandings at each valuation office as at 1 January.
