HC Deb 24 January 1994 vol 236 c88W
Mr. Ingram

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, pursuant to his answer of 17 January,Official Report, column 369, what estimate he has made of the additional costs, net of any reduction in employer's national insurance contributions, to his departmental budget for the financial year 1994–95 resulting from the changes in statutory sick pay provision.

Mr. David Davis

The additional cost to my departmental budget resulting from the change in statutory sick pay provision, net of any reduction in employer's national insurance contributions, is estimated to be £5,000 a year. The precise figure will, in any one year, depend on a number of factors including the level of sickness absence and the distribution of salaries across the national insurance bands.
