§ 28. Mr. PaiceTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to deal with those who commit crimes while on bail.
§ Mr. MacleanIn last year's Criminal Justice Act we required the courts to consider the fact that an offence had been committed on bail as an aggravating factor when passing sentence. The current Criminal Justice and Public Order Bill contains a range of measures to reduce the risk that such offences will be committed, including the removal of the presumption in favour of bail in all cases where a person is charged with an offence triable on indictment which was allegedly committed on bail.
