HC Deb 11 January 1994 vol 235 c118W
Mr. Pawsey

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what additional financial provision is made for hospitals adjacent to motorways to take into account the cost of treating victims of traffic accidents; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Sackville

It is for district health authorities to purchase accident and emergency services and emergency ambulance services which take account of local factors and meet the needs of all corners, regardless of their district of residence. The cost of any in-patient treatment, following attention in the A and E department, is charged to the patient's district of residence.
