Mr. Matthew Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what arrangements are made to ensure that special advisers to Ministers in his Department do not have access to the kind of information, and are not involved in the type of business, that would be likely to create suspicion of impropriety in relation to subsequent employment.

Mr. Brooke

Care is taken to ensure that my special adviser does not have access to the kind of information likely to create suspicion of impropriety. He is not involved in evaluating tenders or letting contracts.

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage if he will list the name and job description of each special ministerial adviser employed in his Department showing any particular outputs for which each advisor is responsible.

My special advisor is Dominic Loehnis. His job is to provide me with advice of a political nature which assists me in my role as a Minister in Her Majesty's Government, advice which it would not be proper to expect from those civil servants who work in my Department.
