§ Sir Thomas ArnoldTo ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what information he has about the cost of the Hoffman inquiry into the funding of London's orchestras.
§ Mr. BrookeThe Hoffman inquiry was commissioned by the Arts Council as part of its review of its support for the London orchestras. I understand that the Council's direct costs in connection with the inquiry were in the region of £5,000, arising mainly from the travel and subsistence costs of the members of the Hoffman committee. I have no details of costs incurred by other parties involved in the review.
