HC Deb 11 January 1994 vol 235 c117W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment she made of the National Radiological Protection Board report NRPB-M453, published in October, on the estimate of collective radiation doses from Sellafield.

Mr. Sackville

The report was prepared by the National Radiological Protection Board—NRPB—in line with a recommendation by the Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment. The results of the NRPB work confirm that the discharges from THORP will result in radiation doses much lower than natural background radiation levels. The NRPB has described the annual attributable risk to individuals in the world population as "vanishingly small".
