HC Deb 11 January 1994 vol 235 c119W
Ms Primarolo

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimates have been made by her Department regarding the future need for community nurses in each health district.

Mr. Sackville

The Department does not keep estimates of the need for community nurses by health district. It is the responsibility of regions to plan the demand for health visitors and district nurses.

Ms Primarolo

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the total expenditure on community care per thousand of population in each local authority area for the last five years.

Mr. Bowis

This information is not held centrally in this form, because expenditure by the national health service on community health and expenditure by the Department of Social Security on some social security benefits are not available at local authority level.

Ms Primarolo

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the total expenditure on community care for people aged 75 years and over per thousand of population in each local authority area in each of the last five years.

Mr. Bowis

This information is not available centrally.

Ms Primarolo

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what representations she has received regarding the integration of health commissioning functions with community care under local authority control.

Mr. Bowis

Various proposals for change are received from time to time but at present there is no intention to alter the current responsibilities for the provision of health care.
