HC Deb 11 January 1994 vol 235 c122W
Sir Terence Higgins

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) if he will update the table on the page headed "Alternatives Considered", of his Department's document entitled "A27 Worthing/Lancing Improvement Statement", explaining the proposals and new technical summary of the environmental statement to give up-to-date figures for the three alternatives and if he will also give figures for the Government's published scheme if the tunnel is bored rather than constructed on the basis assumed in this document;

(2) what are his latest estimates of the cost of converting the A24 to dual carriageway in current and 1989 prices; and if he will express these figures so that they are comparable with updated figures in a table corresponding to that in his Department's leaflet summarising the A27 Worthing/Lancing improvement proposals.

Mr. Key

The public inquiry into the A27 Worthing-Lancing improvement scheme is now under way. Current estimates of the cost for the scheme and related proposals will be available from the Department's representative at the inquiry. I will ask him to write to the hon. Member.
