HC Deb 15 February 1994 vol 237 c745W
21. Mr. Pike

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what assessment his Department makes of wages offered by employers advertising at job centres.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

When employers notify vacancies to jobcentres, an assessment is made of the prospects of filling them. Where the wage offered appears to be below the local market rate for the occupation in question, the employer will be advised if this may cause difficulties in filling the post. However, the decision on what wage is offered is left to the employer.
