§ 25. Mr. Roger EvansTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what progress he is making in the elimination of bureaucracy, waste and mal-administration in the conduct of non-Governmental public bodies in Wales; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RedwoodI have impressed upon the chairmen of non-departmental public bodies the need for the highest standards of propriety in the conduct of public affairs in Wales. Steps have been taken to tighten up procedures and I am introducing new arrangements for monitoring and controlling the performance of bodies in Wales. I will make sure that both the number of bodies and appointments to them are strictly controlled.
