To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations she has made to the Commission of the European Communities regarding the proportion of the Canadian catch that United Kingdom vessels may be expected to fish as a result of the European Communities-Canada fisheries agreement.

Throughout the negotiations with Canada, the United Kingdom has stressed the traditional importance of these waters to our distant water fleet.

Once the agreement has been ratified by Canada, the United Kingdom will press for an appropriate share of any opportunities which become available.
