To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage when he next intends to meet the chairman of the Sports Council to discuss the public funding for athletics.

I have no plans to meet the chairman of the Sports Council to discuss the funding of athletics. Financial support for individual sports is a matter for the Sports Council to determine in accordance with its own policies and priorities.
