To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the number of recorded claims for the beef special premium in England and Wales; and if she will make a statement.

In 1993, there were just below 1.4 million first premium claims and just below 450,000 second premium claims under the beef special premium scheme in England and Wales. These figures are still subject to revision.
