Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the number of(a) murders, (b) murders of police officers, (c) assaults upon police officers, giving degrees of seriousness of injury and (d) policemen and policewomen in post in each year since 1975 in (i) Inverclyde, (ii) Strathclyde and (iii) Scotland as a whole.

[holding answer 2 February 1994]: The information in respect of Strathclyde and Scotland is set out in the tables. Statistics for Inverclyde, and information on the degrees of seriousness of injury resulting from assaults on police officers, are not held centrally.
