HC Deb 13 December 1994 vol 251 c619W
Mr. Jim Cunningham

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what discussions he has had with the Prime Minister about managerial pay awards; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Oppenheim

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State periodically discusses pay at all levels and its implications for the economy and jobs with my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister and colleagues. As the Government have made clear on a number of occasions, the remuneration of directors is a matter for companies and their shareholders, within the framework of company law.
