§ Mr. Douglas HoggThe Government have no plans at present to engage in specific activity to mark the United Nations year of tolerance in 1995. While we are content that non-governmental organisations should play an active role in the activities of the year, it is not our policy, given heavy demands on public expenditure, to commit scarce resources to the marking of United Nations years dedicated to specific themes.
