HL Deb 25 April 1994 vol 554 c27WA
The Earl of Kimberley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What was the income received in 1993 by the National Rivers Authority for rod licence duties in respect of (a) salmon and sea trout, and (b) non-migratory trout and coarse fish; and

The number of licences issued to (a) salmon and sea-trout anglers and (b) non-migratory trout and common fish anglers.

The Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Earl Howe)

Licences issued by the National Rivers Authority to anglers in England and Wales between 1 January 1993 and 1 April 1994 were valid for fishing for all species of salmon and freshwater fish. Separate licences for anglers wishing to fish for salmon and migratory trout and for non-migratory trout and coarse fish were reintroduced with effect from 1 April 1994. Information on sales of and income from such licences is not yet available.
