HC Deb 29 October 1993 vol 230 cc822-3W
Sir David Knox

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received regarding Stoke city council's refusal to implement the recommendations contained in the report of the local government ombudsman, reference 90/B/1928; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Curry

My right hon. Friend has received no such representations. This is a matter between the city council and the local government ombudsman. The Government have, however, made it clear that if local authorities continue to ignore the findings of the ombudsman, steps will be taken to make the ombudsman's recommendations legally enforceable.
